Terms of Use

1. Agreement

By using Board Game Caddy (the "app") or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

2. Beta status

The app is currently in invite-only beta. That means features change, break, and occasionally disappear. There may be downtime without notice. Data loss is unlikely but possible.

Because plays you log are written back to your BoardGameGeek account, BGG remains a copy of your play history. We still recommend using the app's export feature periodically.

3. Your BoardGameGeek account

The app works by connecting to your BoardGameGeek account with your permission. You are responsible for your BGG credentials and for the activity that happens under your account.

Board Game Caddy is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by BoardGameGeek. Game data, images and metadata come from BoardGameGeek and remain subject to their terms. Your use of BoardGameGeek is governed by their rules, not ours, and nothing here overrides them.

4. Your data

Your collection, plays, players and game nights belong to you. We claim no ownership of them. We store and process them only to run the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You can export your data at any time from within the app, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@boardgamecaddy.com.

5. Acceptable use

Please do not:

• Attempt to break into, overload, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Use the app to harass anyone, or upload content that is illegal or abusive
• Scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or data belonging to other users
• Share your invite in ways that undermine the invite-only beta
• Use the app in a way that violates BoardGameGeek's terms or their API limits

Custom images you upload must be yours to use. We can remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.

6. Free and premium

Board Game Caddy has a free tier that is a complete, usable app, and a premium tier with additional features. During the beta, premium features may be unlocked for testers, including lifetime grants where offered. Those grants will be honoured.

Paid subscriptions are not yet available. When they are, pricing and billing terms will be presented before any payment is taken, and these terms will be updated accordingly. Nothing here obliges you to pay for anything.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the service running, but we do not promise any particular uptime. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. If we ever shut the service down, we will give beta testers reasonable notice and a chance to export their data.

8. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using the app at any time and ask for your account to be deleted. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or that put the service at risk.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the last revision, and we will tell beta testers directly about material changes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
